Retainer Agreement
I hereby authorize Riverdale Property Tax Relief LLC (“RPTR”) to file and pursue any tax assessment reduction petition/complaint on my behalf relating to the January 2027 tentative, adjusted and/or final assessment roll for the 2028/29 tax year, including any proceedings before the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission, any City/Village/Town/County Representative or Board, or Small Claims Assessment Review (SCAR) or Article 7 judicial appeal filed in New York State Supreme Court, for the property designated below.
1. Designation of Representative
I am a person named in the records of the Nassau County Clerk as a homeowner, that person’s authorized agent, a person who has contracted to buy a home; or the estate of a deceased homeowner. I represent that the property is a one, two or three family home used for residential purposes. I will not file an application myself or with any other representative for this same tax year. If a duplicate filing is made, I will pay RPTR $250 for their time, efforts and fees within 30 days of RPTR discovering the duplicate filing.
2. Service To Be Performed
I understand that I am not required by law to use a tax reduction service in order to file for a tax assessment reduction. By signing this agreement, however, I am authorizing Riverdale Property Tax Relief LLC (not affiliated with any municipality), or a consultant or firm of RPTR's choosing, to act as agent to represent me in all matters described herein. I fully authorize RPTR to negotiate a settlement for me. RPTR will determine if a SCAR petition is warranted.
3. Notification Of Tax Reduction
RPTR will make reasonable efforts to communicate the terms of any offer of reduction made by Nassau County in the course of the tax assessment review proceeding as required by law. I fully authorize RPTR to negotiate a settlement for me.
4. Fee for Service
Clients may choose one of the following payment options:
Option A. Contingency Fee Option
If the tax grievance is successful, I agree to pay a discounted fee equal to 25% of the first year’s tax savings. This is calculated by multiplying the reduction in the property's total assessed value by the applicable tax rate for that year before exemptions. This discounted rate applies for 30 days from the invoice date. If full payment is not made or arrangements are not established within this timeframe, the fee increases to 40% of the first year’s savings, plus a $50 late fee, a 1% monthly interest charge, and any reasonable collection or attorney’s fees.
Option B. Flat Fee Option
Regardless of the outcome of the tax assessment reduction petition/complaint, I agree to pay a discounted fee of $250.

Payment Deadline & Default: Payment of the Flat Fee must be received in full by RPTR no later than the official Nassau County filing deadline for the 2027 tentative assessment roll. If payment is not received by this date, the client's payment selection will automatically revert to Option A (Contingency Fee Option). In such an event, the client shall be liable for the higher of the two fees (the 40% non-discounted contingency fee of the first year’s savings or the $250 flat fee) upon a successful reduction.

SCAR Petition: Filing of the SCAR petition is not included in this fee; if I wish to proceed with a SCAR petition, an additional charge of $500 applies.
For both options: If an appeal (SCAR petition) is filed, I agree to pay the court-imposed filing fee (currently $30). If the property is sold or transferred, I remain responsible for full payment unless a signed agreement assigns responsibility to the purchaser.
5. No Guarantee of Results and Indemnification
I acknowledge that RPTR makes no guarantees, promises, or warranties regarding the outcome of the tax assessment challenge. I understand that the final determination of property value and tax liability rests solely with the government agencies and the courts. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Riverdale Property Tax Relief LLC, its members, employees, and agents from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising from the filing of the grievance or the performance of services under this agreement, provided such actions were taken in good faith.
6. Liability for Fees
I understand that failure to provide my e-signature on the authorization form does not release me from financial responsibility under this agreement. By signing up for RPTR’s services, I acknowledge that I am liable for all applicable fees, even if I fail to complete the e-signature process.
7. Cancellation
At any time within 3 days after entering into this contract, I have the complete right to cancel by written notice. RPTR reserves the right to cancel for any reason provided that the customer is refunded any amount paid to RPTR for services.
